What is Shamama Attar?

Shamama Attar is a traditional Indian attar made from various spices. It is an exclusive creation of the Kannauj perfumers.

Each batch we made has a different combination of spices, but the most common ones are saffron, nutmeg, cinnamon, cardamom, clove, heena, Musk, Amber and oud. Flowers might be added to the top note later.

How is it made?

It is made using the ‘Deg & Bhapka’ method, also known as hydro-distillation. Kannauj is known for making these attars the same way they were made hundreds of years ago. All the spices and herbs are mixed in a big copper pot (Deg) and distilled for some hours into a small container (Bhapka).

Attar Shamama is one of the best attars for the winter season. It can be worn for outdoor events during chilly weather. Being a warm attar, it slightly raises the body temperature to make you comfortable in the cold.
